Community eases students' stress during college exams By Kristine Lim | Posted: 10 June 2011 1658 hrs SHANGHAI: The three-day national college entrance examinations was a stressful period for students, a boon to some businesses, but also brought out the community's caring spirit, with people volunteering to help in their own way. More than nine million students in China sat for the national college entrance examinations in the past week, to gain entry to university. However, only 72.3 per cent will make it to university. For the students, the exams are seen as the biggest event in their lives, and worries about being punctual for their papers add to the stress. To help them out, car dealer Mr Chen Xiao Tao, volunteered to become a driver. "On the news we have reports of students missing examinations because they were late, wouldn't that be regretful? So we try to do what we can to make transport convenient for them," said Mr Chen. An automobile company started a campaign called "Sending Students with Love". It provided 65 cars to ferry students to and from their exam halls - all for free. Only experienced drivers were chosen, and they had to test out the fastest and safest route beforehand.
